Sheriff Nick Smith

The goal of this administration is to provide the community with the highest level of professionalism and efficiency in the Sheriff's Office. Our department strives to be the capstone of law enforcement, and a forerunner of public safety. Sheriff Nick Smith and Director Nick Key oversee the daily operations of the Sheriff's Office, while also being active in the field. The administration of the Walker County Sheriff's Office is a working administration, meaning they're alongside the hardworking deputies, investigators, and other personnel who patrol our county. Sheriff Smith, alone, has over made over 1500 drug related cases in the Walker County area. Director Key served the City of Sumiton’s police department for eleven years before making the jump to the Sheriff’s Office. To make a long story short, you've got over forty years of law enforcement experience leading the way to a better Walker County.
